10 X 10 launched originally for Deptford X is on the move and will shortly be installed in the Breakspears Foyer at Lewisham College. Students and staff will be invited to continue the exchange process.
How will the Lewisham College Community respond to 10 X 10? Will the response be significantly different from the Deptford X experience? How much will the cabinet change by the end of the exchange day?
When the original 10 X 10 cabinet was set up, I invested a lot of time, thought and energy into the aesthetic appeal of it – the colour chosen for the cabinet was given a lot of consideration and the objects were carefully placed so that the colours and the shapes and sizes complemented each other. When I first presented them, the 100 objects looked visually stunning to me.
This of course was all to change once the exchange process took place and I then found myself in a position of having to tolerate changes I didn't particularly like. As well as letting go of the individual objects and their emotional connections, I also had to let go of having control over how a piece of work took shape.
I'm looking forward to this next stage of the process with a mixture of excitement and trepidation and will update again once the exchange day has taken place.
In the meantime, while I was preparing for this next phase of the project, I uncovered more photos of 10 X 10, some of which are below.

10 X 10 update. The exchange at Lewisham College has now taken place. More than 100 exchanges were made.

The 10 X 10 Project is on the move again, this time to the Kent coastal town of Herne Bay. The cabinet is currently on display at the Herne Bay Museum & Gallery as part of the We All Do Good Things exhibition.
The cabinet has now moved to Whitstable as part of the Biennale satellite programme and an exchange day will take place on Saturday July 3rd.
The 10 X 10 exchange day at Herne Bay Museum & Gallery took place on Saturday June 5th, as part of an exhibiton called We All Do Good Things. The community of Herne Bay and its surrounding area certainly lived up to the theme and it was a very positive experience. Thanks to everyone who participated. To read the full story, click here

Having spent the summer moving studios within ArtHub, I went on to display some of my latest work as part of their Open Studios weekends for Deptford X .
The images below are from It's the Little Things, a piece of work celebrating the life of my Grandmother. Mark Titchner's statement of intent for Deptford X 2010 called for 'art qualified and created by daily life' which is very much the inspiration behind this work.
In an article in The New York Times, Deptford was described as London's new Wild West. In response, I produced a piece called SE8 for ArtHub's Deptford X group show.
I hope to take some more photos of it away from the studio, on the prairies and canyons of Deptford. Yee-hah!
October 2010
On October 10th it was two years to the day since 10 X 10 was launched. I'm planning to take the project to further venues in the new year but in the meantime here's a link to a short documentary film made by media students at Lewisham College about the exchange day which took place there.

November 2010
End of the Season was exhibited at Greenwich Picture House as part of their ongoing Art in the Bar initiative.
The caravan nestling amongst autumn leaves and bare branches will hopefully evoke memories for anyone who's ever had to close up a caravan in preparation for the onset of winter.
